An apprenticeship is a training and assessment package that will enable you to gain the knowledge and skills to carry out the tasks of a job to the right standard. It will also allow you to earn a wage while you continue to learn new skills.

Level 2 – aimed at those leaving school and expecting to achieve, or have already achieved, GCSE’s in Maths, English and ICT.
Level 3 – aimed at those who are expecting to receive or have already achieved GCSE’s in Maths, English and ICT.
Both types of apprenticeship combine practical workplace skills with a theory side which is carried out at college or North Staffs Engineering Group.
The apprenticeship covers the skills and knowledge in one or more of a wide variety of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering activities including:
- Machine Operating
- CNC Machine Operating
- Production Assembly
- Composite Manufacture
- Optical Engineering
The apprenticeship covers the skills and knowledge in a variety of Electrical/Electronic Engineering activities including:
- Designing Electronic Circuits
- Controlling Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes
- Controlling Printed Circuit and Allied Circuit Assembly
- Leading Electronic Component Manufacture
- Leading Electronics Assembly
- Testing Electronic Circuits
- Manufacturing Transformers and Inductors
- Manufacturing Electrical Motors and Generators
- Manufacturing Electrical Control Systems Equipment and Testing Electrical Equipment
This apprenticeship covers the skills and knowledge in a variety of fabrication and welding activities including:
- Manual Welding
- Welding Machines Setting and Operating
- Sheet Metalworking (3mm or less)
- Plateworking (3mm upwards)
- Structural Steelwork
- Pipe and Tube Fabrication
This apprenticeship covers the skills and knowledge in a variety of maintenance activities including:
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Fluid Power
- Engineered Systems
- Service Maintenance
- Lift Servicing
- Lift Repair and Servicing
- Instrumentation and Control
This apprenticeship covers the skills and knowledge in a variety of CAD activities including:
- Becoming familiar with a range of CAD software
- Producing 2D Engineering Drawings
- Producing 3D Engineering Models
This apprenticeship covers the skills and knowledge in a variety of Engineering Technical Support activities including:
- Engineering Drawing
- Quality Control
- Non-destructive Testing
- Computer Control Programming
